Second, knowing your credit score, and what is on your credit report, is the most vital thing you can do to get out of debt.
Why? Let’s say you want to take out a loan to consolidate your debt even further or get a credit card with a lower rate. If your credit score is terrible, you will pay more for any loan (home, home equity, auto, student) you take out and a higher rate on your credit cards.
You could be bleeding cash and the worst part is that you would never even know it!
99% of your creditors use something called a FICO to determine your creditworthiness. It is critical that you know what is on this report so that you know aht your creditors are seeing and so that you can fix any errors that might be on that report.
I am sure you have seen them, but there are a ton of different people out there that are willing to give you a free copy of your credit report. The problem is that its not your FICO score and therefore won’t do you any excellent.
Only one company offers you access to your FICO score. The service they offer is not free, but it will cost you less than a couple of cups of coffee at your local Starbucks each month. Look at it as the best investment you can make in your efforts to eliminate your debt.
